Two trees and drifting sparks, 2007 Dimensions: 193×122 cm Acrylic on linen
Two adjacent dead eucalyptus trees have been hollowed out by termites. Now the core of the trees are gently burning, with the rising heated air creating an updraft similar to that of a chimney. Over the next couple of days the trees will continue to smoulder and will eventually fall in a ghostly pile of soft white ash. Pieces of the clay termite nest will remain, their colour altered by the heat to that of low-fired pottery.
